India State Government Implements Law Banning Online Betting Games
If a pari-mutuel permitholder’s pari-mutuel permit or license is suspended or revoked by the division pursuant to chapter 550, the division may, but is not required to, suspend or revoke such permitholder’s cardroom license. If a cardroom operator’s license is suspended or revoked pursuant to this section, the division may, but is not required to, suspend or revoke such licensee’s pari-mutuel permit or license. Payment of the admission tax and gross receipts tax imposed by this section shall be paid to the division.
On top of that, more than a dozen sportsbook operators have already secured entry into Arizona through partnerships with the groups allowed to secure licenses. Since Arizona is home to more than 7 million people and borders non-sports betting California, there’s little doubt that each of these companies likes its prospects for success. Before legal online sports betting even launched in the state on Sept. 9, multiple pro sports teams and venues had partnered, from the Arizona Cardinals and BetMGM to the Phoenix Suns and FanDuel. So, don’t expect to see online poker show up before online casinos in Virginia. The best hope is that lawmakers lump the pair together when and if they decide to pursue legalization.
